Headwaters R/C Club

The Headwaters R/C Flying Club is a group of model aviation enthusiasts that gather to fly and talk flying and aircraft construction. We fly most weekends in summer and some evenings, depending on weather. Spectators are always welcome, along with anyone interested in learning to fly themselves. Our grass field is located west of Park Rapids, MN, in the Lakes Country of Minnesota, about 25 miles south of the Mississippi River headwaters at Lake Itasca.
Directions to our field: From Park Rapids: From US 71, go 4 miles west on MN 34 to 109th St., then left (south) 1 ½ miles to the field. From Detroit Lakes, go east on MN34 to 5 miles east of Osage (one mile east of the Becker/Hubbard County line) to109th St., then right (south) 1 ½ miles to the field.  (Google - Thanks for the map, but the address is actually about 3/4 mile south of the arrow on the map!)
We host a Fun Fly the last weekend in August, which draws fliers from around the region. Most of the photos here were taken at our Fun Fly, plus from the Park Rapids July 4 parade. This year's Fun Fly will be August 29-30, 2015. AMA membership required for fliers and landing fee.

                                             Just Visiting ??

If you're in the area on vacation or visiting, a number of us (from 4 to 8+) get together each Wednesday morning at 08:30 for breakfast and talk at the West 40 restaurant in Park Rapids, followed by (weather permitting) a trip to the field for flying, mowing, or both.  If you want to skip coffee and breakfast but still want to stop by, we are usually at the field by 10:00.
                                                   School Trip

Five of us went to Century School in Park Rapids on July 28 for a demo in front of a class of youngsters (age 10 or so) showing a number of different planes and an RF7 simulator.  The kids were interested in the planes and the simulator got a workout, most getting the hang of takeoff quickly, though landings were a challenge.  For me, off to Fargo-Moorhead for the Valley RC Fun Fly.
